Smooth. For
Rick Sousley, that single word characterizes both his personality and
his melodic vocal gift. Always a confident gentleman, Rick is still cursed
with the heart of a honky-tonker. One listen to Rick's latest album,
"Patsy Proof" draws upon Sousley's talents, while affording Rick the
opportunity to pay homage to some of his musical influences. Names like
Haggard, Gosdin, Bush and Jones run deep and thick through Rick Sousley's
musical blood.
Rick Sousley began his musical endeavors in 1991. Since then, he
has played every sawdust-floored Texas honky tonk and outdoor festival in
and around Montgomery County. In fact, Rick's song "16 Bars from
Luckenbach" paints a virtual roadmap of his life as a musician. Those
years of cutting his teeth gained him invaluable experience, as well as
providing him the opportunity to share the stage with some of the biggest
regional and national country stars.
Recently, Rick signed with
BAM Music. Bam is
Texas' newest country label, and Sousley is excited to be a part of Bam's
talented stable of artists. Bam is responsible for releasing "Patsy
Proof". The title cut from the album was written by the legendary Hank
Cochran. The rest of the album is filled with cuts from a virtual
"who's who" list of incredible songwriters.
Rick has his sites set straight ahead. The road in front of him is
wide open, and he looks forward to an exceptional 2006. The next time
you're headed to your favorite honky tonk, look for Rick Sousley in your
rear view mirror.
From Willis, Tx. just north of Houston, Rick grew up listening to all the old
country singers and tries to carry on that down home tradition. As you listen to his music you can hear the sounds of Texas in every song.
He's been the opening act for some of country music's biggest stars such
as George Jones, John Conlee, Frenchie Burke, Daryl Singletary, Eddie
Raven, Hank Williams
III, Johnny Bush, Perfect
Stranger and many more.
